Former CIA Counterintelligence Director James Jesus Angleton, aka the “spy-poet,” described the Intelligence game as the “Desert of Mirrors,” a phrase taken from a poem by T.S. Eliot called Gerontion (The title is Greek for “old”, and the poem is an interior monologue recounting the views and impressions of an old man, describing Europe after World War I through the eyes of a man who has lived most of his life in the 19th century).

In the world of Intelligence, in the pursuit of truth, it is difficult to distinguish between reality and a reflection of it, an illusion if you will, as if one were in a “Hall of Mirrors”. Blake, the acronym “OBE” is incorrectly explained as “Overtaken by Events”. In US government agencies, including those in the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation of the acronym “OBE” is “Overtaken by Events”. Former CIA Director of Counter Intelligence James Jesus Angleton, aka the “spy-poet,” described the Intelligence game as the “Desert of Mirrors,” a phrase taken from a poem by T.S. (The title is Greek for “old man,” and the poem is an interior monologue recounting the opinions and impressions of an old man, describing Europe after World War I through the eyes of a man who has lived most of his life in the 19th century.) I have to say that I was lucky that a couple of years ago I watched The Bureau and to be honest, it is probably one of the best things I have ever seen in my life.

You won’t regret it

Up until that point, nothing came even remotely close to it. There is a correlation between both series, obviously it was mentioned that it was “influenced” by that, but I honestly wasn’t expecting a similar story. Don’t get me wrong, the series up to this point is amazing, great cast, good cinematography, but it’s not something I haven’t already seen in the French version. It’s too early to say how it will turn out, but I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t seen The Bureau to watch it.

It’s not something you’d watch while riding your bike on the indoor trainer

After Fassbender played a professional hitman in David Fincher’s film The Killer, and I saw that he was in the cast, I immediately knew that he was a great choice for the role. Those kinds of series actually require some concentration while watching them, so you can be aware of all the characters in the story and the little details about them. Some would even consider them slow, maybe even boring, but exactly those characteristics and complicated personal battles that the characters have, plus the slow build-up of tension, is what makes them great in my opinion.
