Hippo examines the coming-of-age of two half-siblings: Hippo, a teenage video game addict, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a passion for classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by a brother who prefers to indulge in the art of war and mayhem. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
