After the pope’s death, his ring (the so-called fisherman’s ring) is taken away and destroyed
Story
When Cardinal Lawrence is entrusted with presiding over one of the world’s most secret and ancient events: the election of a new pope, he finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundations of the Catholic Church. Most of what Cardinal Lawrence and the other cardinals do during the conclave in the film is in keeping with Catholic faith and centuries-old tradition. The Vatican officially announces that the throne of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) is vacant. The papal apartments are cordoned off with red tape and sealed with a papal wax seal. The college of cardinals is locked in chambers (the Domus Sanctae Marthae, the House of Saint Martha) where they can eat and sleep between votes.
And therefore there is no need for faith
Finally, the windows and doors of the Sistine Chapel, where the actual elections take place and the votes are cast, are darkened, closed, and locked to preserve the secrecy of the conclave. It is said that Ayendi will be the first African pope. The Roman Catholic Church has had three African popes: Victor I (189-199 AD), Miltiades (also known as Melchiades, 311-314 AD), and Gelasius I (492-496 AD). Lawrence: Our faith lives precisely because it goes hand in hand with doubt. If only there were certainty and without doubt, there would be no mystery.

Let us pray that God will give us a doubting pope. And give us a pope who sins and asks for forgiveness, and who moves on. Allegri: Miserere Performed by Capella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, Massimo Palombella Courtesy of Deutsche Grammophon GMBH, licensed by Universal Music Operations Ltd. In short, there are many positive things to say about Conclave. A good script, brought to life by a great ensemble of actors.
The film is well-paced
It is well shot and well-framed. The costume design and overall color palette are visually pleasing. The only negative thing I can think of in the earlier stages of the film is the score. This style of music was not bad to begin with (in my humble opinion), but by this point it is tiring, overwrought and frankly monotonous. There is a point in the final act where the film completely turns on its head and becomes absurd and pointless.
Clumsy and not the least bit clever
It is a real shame, because up until this point it has been believable and believable. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, as you get the impression that a certain Hollywood agenda is being followed here. And this review is written by someone who holds fairly liberal views. But the ending of this movie is conceited and subversive in the most clumsy way.
