As someone unfamiliar with history, the details of the event really interest me
Story
During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports broadcast team must adapt to live coverage of Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group. The performances are all believable, the comedy is spot on, and the pacing and running time keep you watching a film that doesn’t force you to look for the exit before the credits roll.
They did a solid job of not having to anticipate the plot lines
Some might find the lack of a change of scenery tiresome, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was your world, and that you would feel the same way they did on this eventful day.
It forces you to think, without being moralistic
They touched on the political and emotional elements very well. The mix of footage of the actual event, including live action footage, definitely adds to the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I plan to watch repeatedly, it’s a very well-made film that I would recommend to friends who like this type of film.
