When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence was asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Siegel said Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and was going to audition people like Ford. Siegel told Goldstein that they should have at least presented it to Ford first, thinking that he would immediately refuse, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford got the project, which would cause interest from other famous actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was thrilled anyway.. From the reviews I read here, people either like or dislike this show quite a lot, and it seems that it may depend on the reviewers’ reaction to Jason Segal.
Relationships are complex and emotional, and very real human problems are well depicted
I’ve loved his films and I think he’s perfect for the role – and adding Harrison Ford takes the show to an even higher level. The script is excellent, the story is fresh, and the characters are original without turning too stereotypically bizarre.
It can be laugh-out-loud funny, and the next minute bring tears to your eyes
I was really disappointed after the second episode when I realized that I would have to wait for more. Highly recommend!
