Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew” and other stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s younger brothers is the same one that Chewbacca’s family watches in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). It stars in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon: Stupid Old Death Bear (2022). I’ve watched the first two episodes, and while there’s a clear attempt to create a “goonies in space” show, what’s wrong with that? This is a very different take on an existing story in the Star Wars universe. I liked how the suburban town in this world looks, because we’ve never seen it before. The town they come from reminded me more of E.T.’s neighborhood than anything we’ve seen in recent shows. The 4 main characters are typical but likable, each with their own clearly defined roles in the group and are well played by the actors. The pirate vibe isn’t necessarily something we’ve seen before and adds a bit of a spooky element and an air of danger. If this were an 80s movie it would fit in perfectly. So far I’m enjoying it for the new storytelling elements in the Star Wars universe, the hint of nostalgia for the movies of my childhood and the fact that I can share this Star Wars experience with my kids. Very good!. Update your watch list with the latest streaming movies and TV shows coming to Disney+, with old favorites and A-list newcomers.
