My eyes were completely glued to the screen from start to finish while watching this film. The amount of scenes with zero dialogue that have so much atmosphere and emotion is simply incredible. Cillian Murphy is absolutely amazing in this film, as I expected him to be.
Emily Watson is formidable as the Mother Superior
But the emotions she shows in this film and the way she acts through her body language and facial expressions are simply amazing. She really is one of the best actors of this generation. The tension she brings to every scene is fantastic.
This film was a perfect 1 hour and 45 minutes long
It really shows how horrible some of the nuns were back then. It even felt longer to me because I was so absorbed in it. The score and cinematography were so simple yet so effective.
Overall this film was absolutely amazing and a very enjoyable watch
They both really added a lot to the film and gave it the finishing touches it needed. I would love to get more of these films in the future. It was also great to learn more about my country’s history, even if it is its darker side."If you want to get on with life, there are things you have to ignore in order to keep them going."
